London

Yes, I have been in London for the last week. I have taken over 300 pictures, chronicling all the major landmarks (Big Ben, Whitehall Palace Banquet Hall, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Tower of London,The London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, etc). I also took a trip to Portsmouth, and saw the H.M.S. Victory and the H.M.S. Warrior, as well as the resurrected Mary Rose. Tomorrow, I am going to Bletchley Park to see where the center of code breaking operations for Enigma during WWII took place. I hope it is as interesting as Winston Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms.

(Pardon my poorly stitched panorama photo for this post - I only spent 10 minutes on it. The original is 9500 pixels wide and over 180 degrees in view).

In short, London has been a most hospitable city, and I have met many intelligent and accommodating people. Top drawer!

Financial District Border Skirmishes

Last week i was about a block from the Rincon Center, and needed to traverse some commercial territories. I made it through with de minimus scrutiny, but observed some rather disturbing developments at the borders.

"Private Property", it seems, is at a standoff with two territories of the "Right to Pass" block. To the south, the border enjoys a substantial DMZ, which I tarried in as I moved through. I was concerned that I may become stranded in this two-tile no-man's land, but I encountered no resistance and passed through.

To the north, however, the guards can see the whites of the other side's eyes.

Only a thin line of grout separates them there, to say nothing of the intricate tunnels that doubtless run the length of the border. The Northern "Right to Pass" block is infamous for its disregard of punctuation rules, particularly with regard to the comma and spacing. The Southern "Right to Pass", while equally guilty of comma over-use, takes a much softer approach, eschewing the hard-line ALL CAPS stance of its northen cousin or the "Private Property" parcel.

On the topic of borders and bombs, my uncle in Madrid writes: "Yeah we're ok. I still feel safer with ETA than with Jose the 'crip' in Roseland packing his concealed .38."

Google Ads

I put google ads on the Airblogging.com site, and they were predictable (e.g. TypePad, other blogging and moblogging platforms). But then I put a post about the PayPal Invest button that I created and added, and now the google ads are all about locating venture capital and finding angel investors. Maybe I should actually click on some of them.

Hey, a new phone

Got a t616 to replace my t68i.

this post enabled by airblogging.com.

## UPDATE ##

Youch! Looky at that resolution! Well, the CommuniCam did VGA resolution, but didn't have a night mode. I think I'll be keeping the t68i and the Communicam around for a bit. It takes stellar daylight pictures, at full or half (320x240) resolution. I am now an abstract moblogger, at least at night or in poor lighting.

NPR + RJD2 + blogs = radiovoxpopuli

In case you need to step up your rss consumption another order of magnitude, here's a way to employ more than one of the five senses to stream feeds to your brain: Radio Vox Populi.

Now you can gather around the radio and listen to breaking blogs.

Cameron did a really good job on this, especially considering the circumstances. Several weeks ago, he was picked up by a British press gang that was operating off Boston Harbor. Somehow, Cameron managed to jump ship in Chatham, then stowed away on a barge bound for Dublin, and has been laying low in Ireland since -- or at least staying clear of any waterways.

While waiting to get his passport from the U.S. Embassy, he spent his free time building Radio Vox Populi. He is expected back in the States around the 7th of this month.
